Pebblebrook High School is a high school in the Cobb County School District in Mableton, Georgia, United States. It was opened in 1963 and the current principal is Travis Joshua. The school has approximately 3,000 students in grades 9-12, and employs 183 teachers. This makes Pebblebrook High School the biggest school in the Cobb County School District according to student body. The school's traditional rival is South Cobb High School.
Magnet program
Pebblebrook High School is home to the Cobb County Center for Excellence in Performing Arts, the county's only performing arts magnet program. Students wishing to attend the program must audition in the spring of their 8th grade year. Students audition for their major, the art that will be the focus of their studies at Pebblebrook. Once accepted, students may also choose a minor, to be studied in addition. The program offers rigorous training in dance, drama, technical theatre, and vocal arts.
The Orchestra and Band programs are also part of the Fine Arts Department at Pebblebrook, though they are not part of CCCEPA and students cannot audition for them.
The program is housed in the Betty A. Gray Enrichment Center and the Earl Reece Jr. Performing Arts Theatre.
The magnet program status gives the administration more freedom from the Pebblebrook administration team, while the students are still fully qualified pupils at Pebblebrook High School. The CCCEPA was a realized dream of the late Linda Green, Chorus Director during the 1980s era.
The theatre building was constructed on what was originally the driver's education range, and was completed in 1988.
Campus
Pebblebrook has had two campuses in its history. The first was at the (formerly) Lindley Middle School building on Pebblebrook Circle, and the second was at its current location (991 Old Alabama Road). The school has two gyms: the John Morgan III building, and the Kay Jackson Gym building.
