Our Lady of La Salette School (OLLS) was a school in Berkley, Michigan, located on the corner of Coolige Hwy. and Oxford Rd., that operated from 1950-2013. The school is located next to Our Lady of La Salette Roman Catholic Church.
Notable events
In the 2007-08 school year, Our Lady of La Salette garnered national attention when it offered a money-back guarantee to First Grade parents if their students did not read at a Second Grade level at the end of the year.
In March 2009, the 6th Grade class became only the second Michigan school to attend Expedition: Yellowstone!.
In 2008, the school donated one million pull tabs to Ronald McDonald House of Mid Michigan in Lansing, Michigan. The school was the first school to reach the One Million Tab Challenge. The million tabs weighed 768 lbs and generated $575 for Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Sports
The Varsity Boys Basketball Team won the Catholic Youth Organization CYO Basketball Championship. The team defeated St. Edith in the championship game at Divine Child High School in March 2008.
In 2007, the Cross-Country team won the Catholic Youth Organization CYO Championship in only the team's second season.
In 2011, the Cross-Country team won its second Catholic Youth Organization CYO and the school's third.
Closure
On March 20, 2013, the Archdiocese of Detroit announced the closure of the school at the end of the 2013 school year. June 2013, the school closed.
