National Institute for Social Work

The National Institute for Social Work (NISW) was a provider of services aimed at achieving excellence in practice and management in social work and social care in the United Kingdom. It was set up in 1961, following the proposals in the report of the Ministry of Health Working Party on Social Workers in the Health and Welfare Services (the Younghusband Committee chaired by Dame Eileen Louise Younghusband) in 1959. The Institute closed in 2003.[1]

It was located on Tavistock Place, London.
