Nary Ly (born 6 June 1972) is a Cambodian long distance runner. She placed last in the 2016 Olympic marathon.[1]
Aged nine Ly left Cambodia to escape from the Khmer Rouge. The Red Cross moved her to France and gave into a foster family. There she received a degree in biology from the University of Bordeaux. She continued her studied at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in the United States, where she took up running in 2006. She returned to Cambodia aged 26. Ly considers herself a scientist rather than an athlete.[2]
