Naif bin Abdullah el-Hashim (14 November 1914 in Ta'if – 12 October 1983 in Amman)[1] was the youngest son of King Abdullah I of Jordan and his second wife, Suzdil Khanum. He attended Victoria College in Cairo. Naif became regent of Jordan on July 20, 1951, following the assassination of Abdullah, because his brother, King Talal, was reportedly suffering from poor health. Naif ruled in his older brother's stead until September 6, 1951, when Talal was judged fit to assume his royal duties. Naif died in Jordan on October 12, 1983.
