Miguel Ángel González Suárez (born 24 December 1947), known as Miguel Ángel, is a Spanish retired footballer who played as a goalkeeper.

Football career

Miguel Ángel was born in Ourense, Galicia. During his career, after making his beginnings at handball, he played for CD Ourense, CD Castellón and Real Madrid, having an 18-year spell with the La Liga giants and being first-choice from 1974 to 1978 and in his two final seasons. He conquered six domestic leagues, being an active part in four of those.[1]

Miguel Ángel retired in June 1986, at the age of nearly 39. He also earned 18 caps for the Spanish national team, and was in the squad for the 1978 and 1982 FIFA World Cups.

Upon retiring, Miguel Ángel remained attached to Real, in several capacities.[2]
