It was released in November 1986 as the third single from the album Sweethearts of the Rodeo. The song reached #4 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart.[1]
The song is about a young woman who is a native of a small, rural town somewhere in middle America, with conservative values. Having gained a taste of the nightlife, the woman has grown restless and weary of her small-town roots and desires to leave her upbringing behind. During the song, she -- as part of the "Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep" prayer -- prays that she will one day be able to relocate to the big city.
