Michel Gratton (journalist)

Michel Gratton (December 30, 1952 – January 13, 2011) was a Canadian journalist. He held the post of Press Secretary for Prime Minister of Canada Brian Mulroney from 1984 to 1987.[1][2]

In 2014, two former Parliament Hill reporters spoke to CBC Radio's As It Happens about being sexually harassed by Gratton while he was Mulroney's press secretary. Kathryn Young, who was a Canadian Press parliamentary correspondent in 1985, was attacked by Gratton. She told CBC" "He just leapt on top of me, pushed me back in the chair. He was on top of me, pinning me down...and kissing me. He ripped my shirt open and had his hands down my shirt. I was stunned and I thought, 'This is it. This is my time. I'm going to be raped.'..."I was turning my head side-to-side so he would stop kissing me, trying to push him off me. I was yelling 'No! No!'. He finally did stop. He stood up. And I told him he'd better leave. And he did." Gratton also made unwanted advances on CBC reporter Judy Morrison.[3]
