Michael Dobson (born 9 April 1981 in Isleworth, London) is an English former professional footballer.
Life
Dobson came through the youth ranks at Brentford, a club for whom his father George had played, having spent six years at the club which included a couple of years as club captain. One of the highlights of his time at Griffin Park was scoring the opening goal in the 2001 LDV Vans Trophy Final against Port Vale at the Millennium Stadium. Vale went on to win the match 2–1. He joined Reading on loan in the 2005–06 season. At the end of the season, Dobson was released by Brentford and subsequently signed for Walsall on 6 June 2006. Dobson was Captain of Walsall throughout the 2006-2007 season and captained Walsall to their second ever Champion's title lifting the League 2 Champion's Trophy in the 2006-2007 season. He was released by the Saddlers on 7 May 2008. Due to a succession of knee injuries Dobson retired from football following the advice of a specialist .[1]
One of Dobson's strengths was his versatility. He could play at right back, central midfield, and central defence as required.
Dobson now runs his own business called Flexercise which specialises in personal training and sports massaging therapy.[2]
