Matthias Alexander Kristian Zimmermann (* 6 May 1981 in Basel) is a painter and new media artist from Switzerland.
Biography
Matthias Zimmermann was born in Basel, in the canton of Aargau. He studied at the University of Arts Berne Music/Composition, at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts Fine Art, at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences Game Design and Art Education and at the Swiss Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (SFIVET) pedagogy and didactic methods.[1] His artworks become a great reception in international exhibitions.[2][3]Zimmermanns artworks are included in collections of various museums. Many authors wrote reflexive and scientific texts about his artworks in Epistemology,[4] virtual representation of space, Video game art, atmospheric design and Japanese Garden design.[5]

Video game art
2013 the Computer Games Museum Berlin presents Zimmermanns artworks with a monographical spezial exhibition. Zimmermanns artwork has been reflected how the theme of computer games can be expressed by pictorial means instead. The exhibition was divided into the aspects of Toy block, Virtuality and Space Machine. The focus of this exhibition was the series The Space Machine. This shows the interaction of energy, hardware and software.[6]
