Matt Smyth (born July 3, 1985) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman. He is currently playing with the Mississippi RiverKings of the Southern Professional Hockey League.

Smyth began his professional career in the ECHL playing his rookie 2006–07 season with the Phoenix RoadRunners.

In December 2007 Smyth joined the Corpus Christi IceRays of the Central Hockey League (CHL) where he played until he was traded to the Tulsa Oilers in February 2009 in exchange for Jereme Tendler. On December 7, 2009, Matt Smyth was signed to rejoin the Corpus Christi IceRays.[1]

After spending the bulk of his professional career in the CHL, Smyth relocated to the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) for the 2011-12 season to captain the Fayetteville FireAntz.[2]

Family

His older brother, Adam Smyth, is also a professional hockey player.[3]
