Massachusetts Expand Slot Machine Gaming Initiative
The Massachusetts Expand Slot Machine Gaming Initiative also known as Question 1 is an indirect initiated state statute question that would allow the Massachusetts Gaming Commission to issue and additional license for another slots parlor to exist in the state. The ballot question specifies that the additional slots parlor be licensed only on a property that is within 1,500 feet (460 m) of a racetrack and must be built on a parcel that is at least 4 acres (1.6 ha) in size.[1] The only location in the state where this would currently apply is Suffolk Downs in East Boston, Massachusetts.
- A "yes" vote would allow a second slots parlor to exist in Massachusetts.[2]
- A "no" vote would leave the current number of one slots parlor place.
The measure was not approved.
