Marine Systems Limited (MSL) is a Pakistani maritime engineering and marketing organisation. MSL develops real time embedded systems, design services and analysis of acoustic [1] or radar signatures [2] of surface and sub-surface vessels.
About
Marine Systems is a private limited company to market products and services produced by government concerns for maritime applications. The Company was established to provide technical solutions to complex maritime problems specifically those arising due to outright obsolescence or due to diminishing of support from OEMs. Solutions are provided through research, analysis and by proposing functional replacements through indigenous design.
MSL can also provide design services for complex mechanical structures for various marine applications. MSL can provide services for measurement of acoustic signatures of ships and submarines. Special arrangements can be made with the user to assure security and confidentiality of data.
Products
- Advanced Towed Array Sonar (ATAS) - a towed array sonar developed by MSL and Maritime Technologies Complex (MTC) to replace old systems in service with the Pakistan Navy (PN) and for export. Project started during the 1990s, Commodore S. Sarfraz appointed as program chief. System was designed to cope with Arabian Sea environment and is stated to be superior to foreign systems being offered for export. Expected to be installed on Agosta 70 and Agosta 90B class submarines currently in service with the PN, also being integrated with the Agosta 90B's SUBTICS combat management system, as well as future vessels to be acquired by the PN such as new submarines and corvettes.[3]
- Action Speed Tactical Trainer (ASTT) - programmable simulator for tactical training of operations room teams. Based on High Level Architecture. Tactical facilities include: tactical manoeuvers, fleet operations, planning and management, C3I command centre, exercise execution and monitoring, scenario generation and trainees' evaluation. ASTT provides real time simulation of operationally integrated fleet environments, weapons and sensors, different environmental conditions, true kinematics of vehicles and can handle over 100 tracks. It includes user-conifgurable libraries for weapons and sensors. The simulator is made up of a number of cubicles which are configured to represent the CIC consoles of a surface ship or submarine.[4] Installed on the Jalalat II class fast attack craft of the Pakistan Navy.[3]
- Bridge/Pilotage Simulator - under development, will be capable of replicating all features of identified ships. To be used for training of Officer of the Watch-Manoeuvring, entering/leaving harbour, Quarter Master duties and communication staff in tactical reporting.[4]
