Manoshi Sinha (born 29 August 1975) is an Indian author and astrologer. She is the co-founder of a voluntary organization called We Are With You that works for the development of the less-privileged children and women in Assam, especially in the interior villages and towns. This organization is now run by her sister Manomi Sinha. Manoshi is working as a Senior Editor at Business Sphere magazine.

Biography

Manoshi was born at Doom Dooma, a small town in the district of Tinsukia in Assam. She is the daughter of Mahendra Sinha and Anupoma Sinha. The eldest of six siblings, she completed her schooling at Don Bosco School, Doom Dooma. She graduated from Women’s College, Tinsukia and later gained her Master's degree in English Literature from the University of Pune. She returned to Assam after her Masters and worked as a lecturer (Dept. of English) in Don Bosco Junior College and Doom Dooma College in Doom Dooma, Assam.

Manoshi is married to Yogaditya Singh Rawal, a certified fitness trainer, SPN (Specialist in Performance Nutrition), fitness writer,^[1][2] and a national-level competitive bodybuilder.

Literary career

In 2002, Manoshi wrote and published Made for Each Other, her first novel. Manoshi’s second novel The Stigma of Womanhood^[3] was released in 2005. Based on true events, the book deals with several crucial issues that are overlooked in a society. The author portrays the plight of widowhood in the white garb, especially in the Bishnupriya Manipuri community where most ladies shave their heads after their husbands' death just to become jocular showpieces of widowhood. Today, this practice is heading towards a decline. Apart from the novels, she has three authorship works to her credit, DGP English Improvement Course, A New Approach to Practical English Grammar, and Latest Selected Essays.

Her latest novel The Eighth Avatar,^[4][5][6] the first series of a Trilogy on Krishn, was launched online in June 2015. The book was scheduled to be officially launched on Janmashtami (5 September 2015) in Delhi.

Literary focus

Manoshi's writing is characterized by her simple language and her characters, often small-town men and women who navigate between modern and traditional cultural values. Her fiction is biographical that frequently draws upon her personal experiences as well as those of her parents, friends, acquaintances, in the Bishnupriya Manipuri community to which she belongs, and other cultures. Manoshi portrays her characters' struggles, anxieties, and biases to chronicle the nuances and details of societal influence. She is also a poet.^[7] She has composed hundreds of poems which are yet to be published. Until The Eighth Avatar,^[8] which is a mythological book on Lord Krishn’s life, she focused mostly on the new generation Indians and their struggle in various phases of life.
