Mannadiar
'Mannadiaŕ' is a caste, found principally in the Indian state of Kerala. People of this community are found only spread across the district of Palakkad in Kerala. Agriculture and Trading are the two most common occupation adopted by these community members.
Caste organisation
The community leads a modest living through at the same time they are philanthropists and generous group of people. Other sub castes such as Tharakan, Pathukudi, Guptan, Moothan come under the umbrella of Mannadiar caste. The root of the community is believed to be from Trichy, Tanjavur and Madurai region of Tamil Nadu.
The original mannadiar caste belongs to Kankeyam district in Tamil Nadu. In kerala there are only eighteen tharavads under this.Tharakan, Pathukudi,Guptan, Moothan doesn't belong to this Mannadiar family.As mentioned Kollengode Pannikath Tharavad does not belong to the Tharakan, Pathukudi,Guptan or Moothan community.We follow marumakkathayam.
Notables
Former Indian Civil Service officer and an eminent writer Unnikrishnan Thiruvazhoyodu is a notable personality. Leading businessman and philanthropist Late K Radhakrishnan (owner of KRK Group) is also a notable personality among many.
