Maharashtra Institute of Technology (MIT), Pune, is an engineering college affiliated to the University of Pune, India. Established in 1983 by Vishwanath D. Karad, it is among the first engineering colleges in the private sector in Maharashtra.
Admission
Admissions to the institute are done through CAP rounds. Special provisions are made for foreign nationals who come in a large number in MIT every year. From this year admissions will be through MHT-CET 2016 exam scores.

Campus
MIT Pune's 17 acre campus is situated in the city of Pune also known as Oxford of the east. Apart from the numerous educational institutions, the campus also houses World Peace Centre, The UNESCO chair for Human Rights, Democracy, Peace and Tolerance. Facilities include a canteen, branches of The Sangli Bank and the Bank of India, an auditorium, medical dispensaries and a Meditation Temple.
Research and development
To fulfill the need of carrying out Research, Development and Innovation work, MIT Center of Excellence for Research & Innovation (MITCERI)[1] is established on MIT Pune Campus.Its immediate goal will be to encourage faculty members and students at the Bachelor's and Master's levels to consciously bringing in research and innovation elements in their Project work. MITCERI does this by organizing various events like national and international conferences, workshops on research methodology, guest lectures delivered by eminent researchers from industry and academia.Maharashtra Institute of Technology is also one of the organizers of CUBE 2012 International Information Technology Conference & Exhibition.[2] A Research Center of University of Pune in Geology is functioning in Petroleum department of MIT.[3]
Training and Placement Cell
Training is provided to students to enhance soft-skills, group discussion and aptitude test capabilities as well as interview techniques. Special training courses are organized for students and faculty by world-renowned industrial organizations to make them conversant with the ever-changing industrial requirements.MIT Pune organize several entrepreneurship training programmes in collaboration with National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN).
Events
Robocon India
Maharashtra Institute of Technology in collaboration with Doordarshan also organizes Robocon India, an interesting game- cum- intellectual exercise for budding engineers and their enthusiastic instructors, determined to innovate and create machines for producing desired results. Participation in this activity is an end-to-end competitive experience from concept design of a system of robots programmed to perform according to rules of the game played on a high precision technical Contest Area and to score a victory beating the competitors; all this according to a theme declared by the host country.
Summit
MAAERs MIT, Pune organizes a National Level Inter-Engineering Sports Meet, “MIT SUMMIT” which consists of 14 disciplines which are Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Cricket, Baseball, Badminton, Table tennis, Chess, Carrom, Squash, Water polo, Swimming & Rowing.Over 3200 sports persons from 75 colleges all over the country participate in Summit.

MIT ROBOCON Tech Team
MIT Robocon Tech Team is a group of dedicated students from almost all the streams of engineering who work together to participate in the robotics event - Robocon India which is held annually in Pune.
SOURABH (Annual college Magazine)
Sourabh is the group of students from different branches of engineering who believe in "the pen is mightier than the sword."
SPE AIIIP (Society of Petroleum Engineers - Annual Industry Institute Interaction Program)
MIT SPE Students chapter organises SPE AIIIP every year to promote the interaction between Petroleum industry and institute."
MIT BAJA Team Piranha Racing
MIT BAJA Team Piranha Racing comprises a group of budding engineers who represent MIT at the BAJA SAEINDIA event held at the NATRAX facility at Pithampur, M. P., India. They design, fabricate and race an All-Terrain-Vehicle to compete with their peers from the top engineering colleges across India. The team's creation, the 'Pavan Putra' came 6th in the Endurance Race during the BAJA 2012 event.
MIT Cultural
MIT Cultural is the students group of MIT where the creativity flows. This group mainly participates in the two major Marathi drama competitions of Pune - Purushottam Karandak and Firodia Karandak. It also provides a platform for students to showcase their talent in any form of arts. It has won many prizes in the recent years including " Purushottam Mahakarandak 2014" and "Sawaai Karandak 2014" held in Pune and Mumbai, respectively. It has also participated and won in various other presitigous events like - Mood Indigo (IIT Bombay), Sinhagad Karandak '14( Winners Duet Vocals), "Natyasampada",etc. It provides all round development of the students of the institution.
MIT Computer Users Group (MCUG)
MIT Computer Users Group (MCUG) is the official technical group of MIT Pune. MIT Linux Users Group is a part of MCUG.The group is open to everyone including non-MITians.This group provides and seeks any help related to technology amongst its members.They also conduct seminars and workshops on almost all computer related topics.
MIT Astronomy Club
The MIT astronomy club is a group of amateur astronomers within MIT. It's a public group that's open to all. They present its members with an opportunity, both timely and unique, to see the cosmos in a new light.
MIT E-CELL
MIT E-CELL provides the potential entrepreneurs of MIT with a platform to develop and hone their skills as entrepreneurs via its activities. It conducts seminars and workshops on a regularly basis to impart within the students of MIT, the entrepreneurial spirit. website http://www.mitecell.com/

MIT-CELL Educational kit is a student venture company first of its kind started in any engineering college that provides a platform for Engineering students to resale their used engineering instruments to juniors. MIT E&TC 's Recreation and Cultural Group (MERC)
MERC is a new initiative taken by MIT E&Tc students & passed out alumni for the innovative and cultural development of the students in the E&Tc Department. Activities Include Drama(theater), Dance, Short film making, Workshops, etc. Students, being a part of this group, have secured prizes at national level competitions in Acting and Dancing.
