Lutfur Rahman (poet)

Dr. Lutfur Rahman, a poet in the Urdu language, was born on February 2,1941 at reondha village in Darbhanga district of Bihar state in India. He did M.A in Urdu and Persian language from Bihar. Later on he did his Phd in Urdu under Akhter Urainvi. He is a poet and his three notable collections of poetry are Tazgeeye Burg-e-Nawa, Bosa-e- Nam and Sanam Ashna.He served as professor in Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University, Bhagalpur, Bihar. He is also a critic of urdu literature. Some of his worka on urdu criticism are 1. Jadeediat ki Jamaliyat 2. Naqad-e-Nigah 3. Rasik Azeemabadi 4. Tanqidi Muqale 5. Nasr ki Sheryaat 6. Bihari 7. Taabeer-o-Taqdeer

His collection of letters are in two volume under the title 'Tumhe Yaad ho ke na yaad ho".He received Ghalib Award 2010 by Ghalib Institute New Delhi.His contribution is acknowledged in "5 Decades: The National Academy of Letters, India By D. S. Rao".His work has also find a place in "Who's who of Indian Writers, 1999: A-M".

Political career

He joined the mainstream politics and successfully contested election of Member of Legislative Assembly from Nathnagar constituency in Bihar. Later on he became the cabinet minister and held two offices: Ministry of Minority Welfare and Ministry of Public Welfare Department.
