The Limburgse Handbal Dagen / Limbourg Handball Days is one of the most well organized handball tournaments in Europe. The tournament lasts for 3 days with teams from Europe, Africa and Asia and has been successfully organized since 1988 in the citys of Sittard, Geleen and Beek.
History
It all started in the spring of 1988, the year that HV Sittardia forty years existed. They wanted to organise an international tournament in a celebration of this anniversary. The periode of the planned tournament in September, before the start of the Dutch competition, was too short for a proper organisation. That's why the committee decided to organize the tournament in the periode between Christmas and New Year and after the interest in a co-organisation of Blauw Wit and V&L, the Limburgse Handbal Dagen were born.[1]
