Koren Shadmi

Koren Shadmi was born in Israel, where he worked as an illustrator and cartoonist for various magazines. At 17, he had his first graphic novel published, Profile 107 - a collaboration with mentor cartoonist Uri Fink. Upon completion of his service for the Israeli Defense Force, Shadmi relocated to New York to study illustration at the School of Visual Arts, where he acquired his bachelor’s degree in 2006.

Shadmi's books have been published in France, Italy, Spain, Israel, and the US. His first English book, In The Flesh,[1][2] was published by Random House in 2009. His short story "Antoinette" was selected for the Best American Comics 2009 anthology edited by Charles Burns. His comic "A Date" won best short story at the Lucca Comics and Games festival in Lucca, Italy.[3] He is also the creator of the mystery web comic The Abaddon.[4]

Clients include: The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Mother Jones, BusinessWeek, the Village Voice, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, Wired, Spin, ESPN the Magazine, Popular Mechanics, Random House, W.W Norton, Mccann Erickson and many others.

In 2011, Shadmi won the Gold Medal in the Uncommissioned category at the Society of Illustrators [5]

Expected in Spring 2017, a collaboration between David Kushner and Koren Shadmi, "Rise of the Dungeon Master." The graphic novel is based on a WIRED article written by the award-winning Kushner, profiling Gary Gygax, the founder of the tabletop role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons.

Shadmi currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.[6]
