Khane is a village in Baltistan, Pakistan.
Jon Krakauer, the author of Into Thin Air, said that Greg Mortenson, author of Three Cups of Tea, originally planned to build a school in Khane. To support his point, he referred to a 1994 newsletter of the American Himalayan Foundation, where Mortenson asked for funds to build a school in Khane. Instead Mortenson built his school in Korphe.[1]
