Kenroy Elementary is an elementary school in East Wenatchee, Washington with classes from kindergarten through fourth grade. Kenroy is a Beacon School focusing on "Always do your best, Be responsible and respectful, and Cooperate." The school was a Gates school during the 2001-2002 school year.[1]
Distinctions
Kenroy Elementary received a three year grant of $180,000 from the Gates Foundation during the 2001-2002 school year. The goal of for the grant was to increase academic achievement. The school accomplished its goal through the use of classroom based technology, curriculum, and staff development.
Kenroy is participating in the Beacon's Grant through Washington state's Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. Kenroy is using the grant to meet the educational needs of children with or at risk of developing severe emotional/behavioral disabilities.
The school was the home school for the 2003 Washington State Teach of the Year,[2] Veronique Paquette.
