Dor was born as Kätherose Derr in Wiesbaden, Germany. She was married three times: one of her husbands was George Robotham, a U.S. stunt-director, from 1988 until his death in 2007. The couple lived in Los Angeles and Munich. Her previous marriage was to Harald Reinl (1954–68); she had a child by that marriage.

In 2008 she was on stage again in Munich in Man liebt nur dreimal ("You Only Love Thrice").[2]
