Karimaddula is a combination of two words Kari(Elephant)+Madugu(Pond)=Karimadugu lateron it was known as Karimaddula. Actuallly till 1960 elephants used to come frequently to this place from Nalla Malla forest to that pond. So Karimaddula is one of the oldest villages in the Gadivemula mandal of the Kurnool district in Andhra Pradesh, India. With a population of 3881 as per census2011, it is one of the largest villages in the Gadivemula mandal. It is 15 kilometers from Nandyal. There are pilgrimage sites such as Srisailam, Mahanandi, Ahobilam, and Yaganti near the village. This village comes under panyam assembly constituency and nandyal parliamentary constituency.
