KLHT (1040 AM and CP 91.5 FM) is a radio station in Honolulu, Hawaii with a Christian radio format. KLHT-AM broadcasts with 10,000 watts while the FM station will operate with 100,000 watts when it signs on. (The Federal Communications Commission has granted KLHT a construction permit for a new FM station in Honolulu.) The station is owned and operated by Calvary Chapel Honolulu, its on-air branding is "K-Light 1040 AM" and its slogan is "The Pure Light of Hawaii."
KLHT first signed on the air on March 18, 1957.[1] For a time in the 1970s, it ran an all-news radio format using the service of CBS Radio News.
Programming
KLHT programming consists of Christian praise and worship music, talk shows and teaching programs. Many of the teaching programs feature Calvary Chapel pastors, including The Word for Today with Chuck Smith, A New Beginning with Greg Laurie, Somebody Loves You with Raul Ries and As We Gather with Bill Stonebraker, senior pastor of Calvary Chapel Honolulu. Other teachers aired include Truth for Life with Alistair Begg, Insight for Living with Chuck Swindoll, Let My People Think with Christian scholar Ravi Zacharias and Thru the Bible with the late J. Vernon McGee. The station also airs live broadcasts of Calvary Chapel Honolulu's Sunday morning and evening services.
