Justin Ward Pinkerton (born November 9, 1980) is an Oakland, California-based composer, multi-instrumentalist, audio engineer and DJ. He has recorded and performed extensively over the past 15 years with such bands as The Roots of Orchis,[1] Eyes,[2] The Finches,[3] Moholy Nagy, Run_Return[4] and such artists as Rafter Roberts[5] and Scott Pinkmountain. He currently plays drums and composes for the heavy psych band Golden Void (Thrill Jockey),[6] alongside Aaron Morgan (The Finches, Colossal Yes, The Roots of Orchis) and Isaiah Mitchell (Earthless, Black Elk Medicine Band), with Camilla Saufley-Mitchell (Assemble Head in Sunburst Sound). Pinkerton is also active with his sample-based solo project, Corsic.[7]

Professional background

Pinkerton played drums/guitar/bass/keyboards/turntables throughout the life of The Roots of Orchis.[1] He has contributed drum performances for his current band Golden Void[6] as well as Eyes,[2] Rafter (Music For Total Chickens),[5] The Finches (Human Like A House),[3] Scott Pinkmountain and Moholy Nagy. He has contributed guitar and bass performances for Run_Return.[4] In addition to studio and live performances he has composed songs for The Roots of Orchis, Eyes and his current project Golden Void. Additionally Pinkerton composes/performs music for use in television/internet advertisements.[8] His work has been featured in advertisements for Toyota, Dodge, Audio, BMW, Comcast, Harley Davidson, Cadillac and many others.
