Early life and work

Fung was born on July 21, 2002 in the Hong Kong SAR, China. He mentioned in an interview[1] that he has "always had a fascination with computers and technology", and he has started to program when he was 5. Without relevant professionals in his family,[11] he developed his skills in technology through years of self-studying and development. His products now includes mobile applications,[12][13] electronic devices,[2] computer programs,[14][15] cloud computing software,[3] as well as 3D printing technologies.[5] He has been actively participating in open-source development[1] since the start of his programming journey and many of his products are open-sourced. His first public project GLMET, an encryption tool, published open-sourced on Feb 20, 2012 on Google Code.

The GLMET Project

On August 6, 2012, he founded The GLMET Project[16] which aims to publish open-sourced computer programs. Many of their programs are being reviewed and featured on sites like Softpedia.[14] The Project have attracted developers from around the world who "share the same philosophy of publishing open source programs" to participate in the Volunteer Developer Program.[16] More than 70 developers[15] were selected and joined the community to continue to develop open-sourced programs. The site is currently inactive and last updated on Jul 8, 2014.[16]

Mobile applications

Fung has also published mobile applications on both Google Play[13] and the iTunes App Store.[12] His mobile apps includes the Fair Draw (available on both Android[17] and iOS[18]), a random number generator that can speak the number; Fair Dice,[19] a dice roller app; Colorous,[20] a game app that "trains and strengthens your reaction speed"; Bluetooth Gamepad Customizable,[21] a gamepad to "control Bluetooth robots or cars"; as well as Snap'n'Share,[22] an instant image sharing app.

All of his currently published mobile applications are free of charge.[12][13]

Current work

Pedosa Innovation

The GLMET Project later developed into Pedosa Innovation, a tech start-up company that mainly focuses on the development of cloud infrastructure[3] and wearable technology.[1][4][5][6][7][8][9]

The first product released under the Pedosa brand name was the Pedosa Glass,[23] a smart glass wearable device published on Instructables on November 6, 2015. It is first exhibited during the Maker Faire Hong Kong 2015.[4] The product was later renamed to Pedosa View[3] and he mentioned in an interview that he is currently manufacturing the device and is under testing on an invited basis.[2]

The device runs an operating system developed by him called the PedosaOS.[5] It connects to the user's mobile device using Bluetooth and can display the notifications from the phone on front of the user's eye, along with other features including Weather and GPS navigation.[2]

In addition to smart wearable devices, the Pedosa Ecosystem also include cloud infrastructure[3] as well as smart home automation devices.[2]

Fung is also the Host of Jordan's Tech Show,[24] a channel on YouTube which shares technology-related news and tricks.

Education

He currently studies in Cheung Sha Wan Catholic Secondary School of Hong Kong as a Secondary 3 student,[2][5][11] and had previously studied in St Francis of Assisi's English Primary School from 2007 to 2013. In addition to his technology-related development, he also excels in his academic performance, and has achieved the "Best Performance in English", "Science" and "IT" in his school. He has also been achieving a number of academic awards, including the Champion in English Public Speaking in the Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival.[25]

"I am glad that Jordan can strike a balance between his studies and his business. Although we don't know much in technology, we encourage him to develop his own interests." his mother mentioned in an interview.[2]

Trademark

Fung currently holds the trademark of "Pedosa". According to the Intellectual Property Department of Hong Kong, the trademark was registered on August 23, 2016, almost a year after the first Pedosa product was released.

Open source development

He believes that "open source development is inevitable in the future of technology".[26] Many of his products are open-sourced.[1][4][11][15]

His goal is to "inspire more kids around the world to go out of the box and develop their own interest, not just in technology but in anything they love".[1] Therefore, he has been promoting modern technologies and creative thinking among the younger generation by organising workshops and courses, and have shared his experiences in various events.
