John Dudley Galtrey Kirkham (born 20 September 1935) was the Anglican Bishop of Sherborne in the last quarter of the 20th century[1] and the first area bishop under the 1981–2009 area scheme.[2]
Kirkham was educated at Lancing College and Trinity College, Cambridge, and ordained in 1962. His ministry began with a curacy at St Mary-le-Tower, Ipswich[3] after which he was Chaplain to Launcelot Fleming, Bishop of Norwich[4] and finally (before his elevation to the Episcopate) Canterbury Diocesan Director of Ordinands.[5]
