Jay Birnie (born July 11, 1983) is a Canadian retired professional ice hockey defenceman.
Birnie commenced his professional career in 2006 with the Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League (CHL) where he played four seasons. He scored 15 goals and 31 assists for 46 points while earning 726 penalty minutes in 209 games with the Eagles.
On September 25, 2010, the Rapid City Rush of the CHL signed Birnie for the 2010–11 season,[1] however on March 25, 2011, after 31 games with the Rush, Birnie was waived, and he completed his final professional season by playing 11 games in the Southern Professional Hockey League with the Knoxville Ice Bears.
