Jaquiski Tartt (born February 18, 1992) is an American football safety for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Samford.[1]

Early years

Tartt attended Davidson High School in Mobile, Alabama. Tartt played basketball in high school and did not start playing football until his senior season.[2][3] Despite playing football for one season, he committed to Samford University to play college football.

College career

Tartt attended Samford from 2010 to 2014. After redshirting as a freshman, he saw his first action in 2011. As a redshirt sophomore in 2012, he became a starter and remained throughout his senior season. For his career he had 277 tackles and six interceptions.[4]

Professional career

Tartt was the first player from Samford to be selected to play in the Senior Bowl.[5][6] Tartt was selected with the 46th pick in the 2015 NFL draft, by the San Francisco 49ers. This makes Tartt the highest drafted Samford player in school history. As a rookie, Tartt took over as starting safety after Antoine Bethea was put on the season ending injured reserve. He recorded his first career interception in Week 14 when he picked off Johnny Manziel in the second quarter. By the end of the 2015 season, Tartt had recorded 52 solo tackles, 2 sacks, 1 interception, 1 forced fumble, and 3 passes defensed.
