Dr. Ishaque Ahmed Ansari (Sindhi: اسحاق احمد انصاري) is a writer in the Sindhi language. He was born on 4 March 1960 at Larkano, Sindh Province, Pakistan. He has been authored two novels in the Sindhi language. He is also a director at the State Bank of Pakistan's statistics department.[1]
Education
He received his primary education from Government Practicing School Larkano and his secondary education from Pilot Secondary School Larkano. He completed his higher secondary education and graduated from Government Degree College Larkano. Ansari was enrolled at University of Sindh, Jamshoro, in 1985, and completed his master of science in statistics with first class first position. In September 1985, he was hired by University of Sindh's Shah Latif Campus at Khairpur as a lecturer. In 1989, Ansari proceeded to Grants Commission Islamabad for his postgraduate diploma in computer science. In 1990, Ansari proceeded to Czechoslovakia for a PhD under a cultural exchange scholarship program. He earned a diploma in Slovak language, completed his PhD, and returned to Shah Abdul Latif University in 1995.
Professional activities
Ansari remained at Shah Abdul Latif University as an associate professor until 1999, when he joined the statistics department of the State Bank of Pakistan as a joint director.[2] He is a co-author of the Dictionary of Commerce and Banking published by the Sindhi Language Authority.[3] Apart from his professional work, Ansari serves as a PhD supervisor for students at the University of Sindh,[4] Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur, University of Karachi, Federal Urdu University, and Szabist.[5][6][7]
Publications
Ansari has written the following novels, travelogues, and translations.
- A novel, Khali Bench (Sindhi: خالي بينچ), published in 2000. Three editions of this book has been published so far. Its second edition was published in 2012, and a third edition in 2015.[8][9]
- A travelogue, Preen Huna Paar (Sindhi: پرين هن پار), published in 2008.
- A travelogue of Nepal, Nikri Payus Nepal Daanhun (Sindhi: نڪري پيس نيپال ڏانهن).[10]
- A novel, (Sindhi: ننڍڙو شهزادو) (published in 2016), is a translation of the novella The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
- A travelogue of Bahrain.[11]
