Justice Innocent Azubike Umezulike, OFR (born September 21, 1953) is a Nigerian Jurist and served as the Chief judge of Enugu State, Nigeria for 13 years.[1][2]
Early life and career
Justice Innocent was born on September 21, 1953 at Rivers State, southern Nigeria. He attended St. Vincent Secondary School where he obtained the West Africa School Certificate in 1971.[3] Before he proceeded to the University of Lagos where he obtained a bachelor's degree in Law in 1976, the same year he joined services of the Nigerian Television Authority where he was appointed Assistant Legal Adviser to the corporation.[4] In 1983, he joined the services of the University of Ibadan as academic staff (Grade II) in the Faculty of Law before he joined Nnamdi Azikiwe University where he became an associate Professor in 1992.[5] On August 1993, he was appointed a Judge of Enugu State and then Chief Judge of Enugu State and after four years of meritorious service , he was nominated by the Federal Government of Nigeria to serve in the Supreme Court of the Gambia.[6]
