The inauguration of Millard Fillmore as the 13th President of the United States took place at the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, July 10, 1850. The inauguration marked the commencement of the partial 969-day term of Millard Fillmore as President, following the death of President Zachary Taylor the previous day. The swearing-in was administered in the chamber of the House of Representatives by William Cranch, chief judge of the U.S. Circuit Court; Cranch had also sworn in John Tyler, the first to succeed to the presidency after the death of the incumbent, in 1841.[1]
