Ifeanyichukwu Godwin Onyeabo (born 1972) is a Nigerian film director and producer. Onyeabo is up for Extraordinary People Awards 2016 with his film Tribe nominated for 11 "African Oscar"s at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), and winning "Best Drama" there.[1][2] He also submitted other films in AMAA, including My Mother’s Heart and Five Apostle. Some other noteworthy films include Aguba, Who Own da City and Hours Before Midnight.[3][4]
Early life
Onyeabo was born in 1972. He is the youngest child among his three brothers and sister. Onyeabo was a former medical student, but after his third year of studies he had to stop due to the education fees. Since then he began to attend the Television College, Jos Plateau State in Northern Nigeria. He also studied at the School of Creative Art in New York. This was the beginning of his career in the film industry. The movie Time won the best African Movie of the Year in the Magic Johnson Theater in New York, and New Jerusalem won him the Best Director Award in the Lagos International Film Festival 2007/2008. Onyeabo also won the best overall director award for a short film documentary feature. He was also given the Golden Camel Award for the movie Fulani.
In 2006–07 at the AMAA he once again won the award of Best Art Director for the movie New Jerusalem. He won this award again in the AMAA of 2009–10. He also submitted other films in AMAA, including My Mother’s Heart and Five Apostle.[5][6]
