Dr. Herward Braunegg (26 December 1917 – 16 December 1983) was a highly decorated Hauptmann in the Wehrmacht during World War II and Oberst of the Reserves in the Bundesheer. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership.
