Haresh Sippy is a visionary, leader and an established industrialist in the engineering space in India. He is the chairman and managing director of Indian heat exchanger manufacturer, TEMA India that was established in 1987.[1][2] TEMA is a company that specialises in the design and fabrication of shell and tube heat exchangers and its variants. It caters to the critical applications in the refinery, petrochemical, fertiliser and power-plant sectors.

Early life and education

Haresh Sippy was born on 19 August 1946 in Kolkata. His father was a landlord and had migrated to Kolkata at the time of partition. Sippy completed his primary, secondary and higher secondary education from Our Lady Queen of the Mission Convent School and South Point School, Kolkata. Subsequently, Sippy's family shifted to Mumbai and settled down there. He later graduated in Civil Engineering from Maharaja Sayajirao University, Vadodara.

Career

Haresh Sippy was fascinated by mechanical phenomena from his very childhood. At the age of 10, he got a chance to observe Tori spherical dished end done by hammering hot steel plate manually and subsequently developed an inclination to learn mechanical engineering. After graduating in civil engineering he started his own manufacturing unit called LEO Engineering Works in 1975. He co-founded a new company in 1984 called Tema Exchanger Manufacturers Private Limited in partnership with Chetan Doshi and Khushroo Bulsara that subsequently became known as TEMA India Limited. Sippy also authored a paper for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.[3]
