Hanjra is a gotra in Punjab region of India and Pakistan. Other names for the clan include Hinjra, Hinjar, Hinjara, Hanjhra, Hanjrae and Henjara.
History
After the Partition of India, Sikh Hanjras moved to eastern Punjab today's states of Punjab (India), Haryana and Himachal Pradesh). While the Muslim Hanjras migrated to Pakistan. Hanjhras own large swaths of land in western Punjab, Pakistan.
There are a significant number of Hanjras in Pakistan, in the area around Sialkot District, Rawalpindi and Jhang, in the late 19th century many of Hanjras settled around Jhang and Faisalabad after the establishment of an irrigation system.
