Grant William Veitch Harrold (born 1978 in Airdrie, Scotland) also known as The Royal Butler and self-styled 'Britain's Etiquette Expert' is a butler and advisor to various members of the British Royal Family and other notable people and celebrities.^[1][2][3] and an etiquette expert and broadcaster. He was also a butler for HRH Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry. He has also worked for Urs Schwarzenbach and Major Christopher Hanbury on the Ben Alder estate.^[4]

Based in Gloucestershire, Harrold runs an etiquette and household consultancy company, Nicholas Veitch Limited.^[5][6] He also gives talks and demonstrations on afternoon tea etiquette, dinner parties etiquette and similar etiquette events. Grant was appointed to the position of Personal aide to HRH Princess Katarina of Yugoslavia and Serbia and helps with the day-to-day running of the Royal Household of HRH The Princess Katarina of Yugoslavia and Serbia In 2015 alongside HRH Princess Katarina of Yugoslavia and Serbia Grant's company Nicholas Veitch formed a partnership with Blenheim Palace which created The Royal School of Butlers^[7]

Television and radio

He appeared regularly as the butler on the reality television programme Country House at Woburn Abbey between 2000 and 2003 whilst working for Robin Russell, 14th Duke of Bedford and his son Andrew Russell, 15th Duke of Bedford, and then in 2012 was part of the BBC Three series Be Your Own Boss.^[5] In 2013 Grant featured with Ruth Watson in Ruth Watson Means Business! in which he helped Watson improve Fawsley Hall in Northampton. Grant also featured in the television series "You Can't Get The Staff for Channel 4, 2014. In 2016 Grant appeared with Michael Portillo for Great Railway Journeys. It has been reported that he has filmed another two television series's to be broadcast later in 2016.

In 2012, he appeared on RTL.^[8] He has also been interviewed by Kate Clark and Anna King on BBC Radio Gloucestershire and by Peter Levy on BBC Radio Humberside.^[9]

In 2013, he was interviewed by Charlie D'Agata for CBS News on British etiquette.^[10] He also appeared on ET Canada talking about his role and time with Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and about the birth of Prince George of Cambridge.

2016 saw Grant working appearing on ITV’s Good Morning Britain and ITV’s This Morning. He has also regularly interviewed by BBC Radio.[9]

In 2015 Grant assisted Noel Edmonds and was working on one of his positivety network radio stations "Positively Royal"^[11] which promotes the British and European royal families. Grant known as "The Royal Butler" was a host alongside Brian Perkins

Campaigns

In 2015 Grant also took part in national campaigns with Penhaligan’s which saw his helping them launch Scent 33. ^[12] No.33 was created in celebration of Penhaligon's 145th Anniversary in homage to William Penhaligon, our founder who began his barbers at No.33 St James's Street in 1870 selling fragrances and grooming preparations for gentlemen.

Then Grant was recruited to help Safety First with their National campaign Their mission statement was Electrical Safety First and Grant Harrold, the UK’s official expert on British etiquette and household matters are offering guidance on how to ask the ‘awkward’ question to help ensure families and homes stay safe.^[13]

Grant more recently has been working with the mail online as a Royal Commentator and Etiquette Expert.
