Pedda Gollapalem is village in Nidamarru hamlet, Kruthivennu mandal, located in Krishna district on the sea coast of Bay of Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, India.
History
The village has been existed since 1905, which is very close to the nearest Town Bhimavaram. It is believed that two brothers Chinna golladu and Pedda golladu had governed this village. There is a bungalow constructed during the British rule which is now called a choutry governed by the Village Panchayat. The village had no communication links with other villages as there were paved roads until 1995. The villagers main source of income is selling "Kallu" a drink taken out from Palm trees. In the year 1988 a U S lady Ms Jane McBride came to this village founded Village Children's Home & School. It is now maintained by Mrs Jhansi Rani being its President.[1]
Geography
Pedagollapalem is located on the southeast coast of India and in the east coast of Andhra Pradesh.
Transport
The village is connected to near by towns like Machilipatnam , Bantumilli and Bhimavaram city by road. The National Highway 214A from Kattipudi to Ongole, passes through near by town Pallepalam.
Nearest railway station is Machilipatnam and Bhimavaram Town under South Central Railway zone of Indian railways, under the jurisdiction ofVijayawada railway division. The nearest domestic airport is Vijayawada Airport.
Best Tourist Attraction
The village has a clean beach, which is adjacent to the sea (500 meters from the village). It is a tourist attraction place.It is a place developing for tourists. The new sea port location of Machilipatnam was first announced by the Govt of Andhra Pradesh at Gogileru, a channel flowing into the sea at Pedagollapalem village. The sight seeing along the coast resembles a mini Kerala state on the malabar west coast of India+.
Sand Dunes
Sand dunes is the unique attraction to the village, which most of the outer world doesn't know. They were formed due to the water along the sea side that are spread for around 10 kilometres. Tourists from near by towns do visit on weekends regularly.
If the village is developed with resorts, It has a chance of getting the fame as Mini Kerala.
