History

Gaisano Capital Sogod

Gaisano Capital is an offshoot of Gaisano Bros., another retail company owned by Henry Gaisano and four of his brothers. Edmund S. Gaisano, a relative of the Gaisano brothers, went on to launch his own construction business without being dependent on the clan with one of his projects to come up with a building to be leased as a supermarket by the elder Gaisano siblings. The supermarket venture failed and the finished building located along Leon Kilat and Colon streets was used instead by Edmund Gaisano himself. The building hosted the first branch of Gaisano Capital, the Gaisano Capital South. Other Gaisano Capital branches were built in Visayas and Mindanao.[1]

As of the last quarter of 2015, there are 31 branches of Gaisano Capital, with the recent shopping mall opened December 2011 located in Surigao City.[2]Others were San Francisco (also opened in November 2014), Tandag and Bislig.
