Francis Johnston (bishop)

Francis Featherstonhaugh Johnston, CBE /ˈfænʃɔː/ [1] was the third Bishop of Egypt [2] from 1952[3] until 1958.[4]
Born on 21 April 1891 and educated at Reigate Grammar School [5] and Hatfield College, Durham, he was ordained in 1915.[6] After a curacy at All Saints, Fishponds, Bristol[7] he was a Temporary Chaplain to the Forces. After World War I he was Chaplain of Port Said and then Archdeacon of Egypt before his elevation to the Episcopate. On resigning his See he was Vicar of Ewshot until his death on 17 September 1963.
