Federal Bridge Corporation Limited (FBCL, in French La Société des ponts fédéraux Limitée) is the name of two successive Canadian federal Crown corporations.
The first Federal Bridge Corporation Limited was responsible for operating and managing the following bridges which until 1998 were managed by the St. Lawrence Seaway Authority:[3]
- Seaway International Bridge in Cornwall, Ontario
- Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario
- Thousand Islands Bridge in the Thousand Islands
That FBCL is head-quartered in Ottawa. The Corporation reports to the Parliament through the Minister of Transport.
A Crown Corporation was formed to operate and manage all the bridges operated by the original Federal Bridge Corporation Limited, and the two bridges in Sarnia, managed by the Blue Water Bridge Authority.[4]

Awards and recognition
LEED certification
The Blue Water Bridge Corporate Centre in Point Edward, Ontario was awarded LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification on June 25, 2015. LEED certification is a distinction awarded by the Canada Green Building Council for the design and operation of high-performance green buildings. The Corporate Centre is a four-story building opened in 2011 as an administrative complex for Blue Water Bridge operations. Its certification plaque is posted in the lobby of the office building in Point Edward.[6]
Blue Water Bridge labour dispute
Approximately 50 employees of the Blue Water Bridge are unionized under the Public Service Alliance of Canada Union Local 501. They have been without a contract since their prior one expired on November 7, 2014.[7]
Negotiations between Federal Bridge Corporation and union representatives started in March 2016. The corporation claims it is not seeking any major concessions and is offering a generous package that includes wage increases, increased shift premiums, and additional benefits. The union is concerned about the effect on existing agreements such as maternity/parental leave, and concerns about discipline policy, pension eligibility, among other issues.[8] Negotiations ceased on November 20, 2016 without reaching an agreement. As a result, unionized employees, working in toll collection, maintenance, janitorial, and currency exchange are set to withdraw services on November 21, 2016 at 6:00 a.m.[9]
The labour dispute continues as of November 24, 2016. While workers strike, managerial workers and non-union staff are ensuring that bridge operations continue. No new negotations are scheduled.[10]
