Fabio Cavalli

Fabio Cavalli (Intragna, Switzerland, October 23, 1955) is a Swiss entrepreneur, investing in science and technology start-ups, and a philanthropist.

He is particularly renowned for the launch of Mondobiotech,[1] an innovative company working in the Healthcare environment.

Biography

Early career

Fabio Cavalli started his entrepreneurial career working in the start-up environment, giving birth to companies operating in the real estate, leisure sport, design and information technology fields.[1][2]

Mondobiotech

In 2001, Fabio Cavalli co-founded Mondobiotech, in order to match his entrepreneurial and philanthropic qualities, holding the roles of both CEO and Chief Business Architect.[1] His first aim was to propose new and innovative remedies for rare “orphan” diseases.[3] He registered 321 licences for the application of human peptides as medicaments for rare diseases.[4] Under Fabio Cavalli’s direction, Mondobiotech entered the SIX Swiss Exchange with a market capitalisation of more than 2,4 billion CHF, starting August, 26th 2009 [5][6] and was awarded in 2008 with Central Switzerland Chamber of Commerce prize “Zentralschweiz Innovationspreis”, for the best innovator.[7][8] In 2011, Cavalli decided to leave the project, in order to follow further professional and personal paths.[9]

Private Life

Fabio Cavalli is married to Vera and has two children, Francesco and Valentina. His greatest passion is sport, playing snowboard, kitesurf, jogging, bike as well as driving helicopters and planes.[10] In mid-Eighties he has also been a car rally challenger and champion.[11][12][13]

Philanthropy

In 2011 Fabio Cavalli founded, together with his wife Vera, a no-profit organisation called Cavalli Foundation, aiming to give help to all those affected by rare diseases. In that same year he joined Clinton Global Initiative.[14]
