The Events of October 6th were an insurrectional movement of Catalonia's autonomous government against the conservative involution of the republican regime of Spain, on October 6th of 1934, when president Lluís Companys proclaimed the Catalan State of the Spanish Federal Republic. This attempt ended up with the imprisonment of the members of the Catalan Government and the suspension of the Statute of Autonomy by the Spanish Government. At the same time in Asturias, in the so-called rising of Asturias, the events were much bloodier, with hundreds of dead due to the clash between the Guardia Civil and the Spanish army against Alianza Obrera.
