Eric Brown (born December 17, 1964) is a former American film and television actor.[1] Brown is best known for his role as Phillip Fillmore in the 1981 coming of age film Private Lessons and as Vinton "Buzz" Harper, Jr. in the NBC version of the American sitcom Mama's Family.
Personal life and current activities
Eric Brown attended the Professional Children's School in NYC. He holds a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of California at Berkeley, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa, and a Master's of Liberal Arts from Stanford University, where his research focused on politics in Rwanda.
He was press secretary and speechwriter for Congresswoman Nydia M. Velázquez, a seven-term member of Congress from New York. As a political media consultant, Brown produced hundreds of television and radio ads for U.S. Senate, Congressional, and statewide campaigns for Alexandria, Virginia-based Murphy Putnam Media.
He is also a contributing author of Take Back Your Time (2003, Berrett-Koehler).
He previously worked in Washington, D.C. as communications director for the Center for a New American Dream, a nonprofit organization that "helps Americans consume responsibly to protect the environment, enhance quality of life, and promote social justice".
Eric Brown was the communications director for the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation from 2003 to 2014. He is currently the principal of Brownbridge Strategies, a strategy and communications consulting firm that works with nonprofit organizations and foundations. He presently resides in California with his wife Janine, and their daughter Maggie, who was born in January 1996.
