Elahe Hiptoola

Elahe Hiptoola is a Bollywood film actress, producer, and costume designer.[1][2][3] Her credits include being executive producer of 3 Deewarein, Hyderabad Blues 2, Iqbal, Dor, and Dhanak.

Early life

Elahe Hiptoola was born in Mumbai but Hyderabad has been her home since she was two months old. She did her schooling at Nasr, college at St. Francis and law at Government Law College, Bombay. She has learnt horse riding, Kathak, and piano. She was married to Vidyut Jaisimha, son of M. L. Jaisimha; the marriage lasted for two and a half years.

Career

She studied law but did not practice. Hiptoola set up the first fashion store in Hyderabad, "Elahe," which housed collections of designers like Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, Tarun Tahiliani, Vinita Pittie, Anamika Khanna, etc. There was no competition for years until she sold the boutique in 1999. Then filmdom happened and she has been there for the last 14 years.

Hiptoola frequently works with producer Nagesh Kukunoor. Their partnerships include Hyderabad Blues, Rockford, 3 Deewarein, Bollywood Calling, Hyderabad Blues 2, Iqbal, Dor, Bombay to Bangkok," Aashayein", 8x10 Tasveer, Mod and Lakshmi.

Lamakaan

In 2010, she founded a cultural center called Lamakaan in Hyderabad because she felt the city lacked a centre where youth can voice their opinion. Lamakaan (a place without boundary) is an inclusive cultural space that promotes and presents arts, literature, theatre, debate and dialogue with a commitment to being open and accessible. It is a non-profit entity and is run by a trust and on donations. All events at the centre are guided by its appointed curators, who have the freedom to explore.
