Edward Curzon, 6th Earl Howe
Edward Richard Assheton Penn Curzon, 6th Earl Howe CBE (7 August 1908 – 29 May 1984), styled Viscount Curzon from 1929 to 1964, was a British peer.
Howe was the eldest son of Francis Curzon, 5th Earl Howe and his wife, Mary Curzon.[1] He served as an officer of the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve in World War II later becoming a Conservative politician.[2]
Family
Lord Howe married twice, first to Priscilla Weigall, daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Archibald Weigall, 1st Baronet (himself fifth son of the artist Henry Weigall by his wife Lady Rose Sophia Mary Fane (1834–1921), daughter of John Fane, 11th Earl of Westmorland by his wife Priscilla Wellesley-Pole, a niece of the 1st Duke of Wellington), on 23 July 1935. He married secondly, on 30 April 1946, Grace Lilian Wakeling (married firstly to Captain A. N. Barker), who died on 24 December 1985, daughter of Stephen Frederick Wakeling, of Durban, Natal, South Africa. From both marriages, he had only daughters.
From his second marriage with Grace Wakeling, he is the father of Lady Mary-Gaye Georgiana Lorna Curzon (former wife of John Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe and mother of Isabella Calthorpe and Cressida Bonas).
He was succeeded in the earldom by his second cousin, Frederick Curzon, 7th Earl Howe.
