Dorje is an English progressive metal band formed in 2012 under the name The Rob Chapman Band, however soon changed their name to Dorje. It was founded by Rob Chapman.

Description

2007-2012: Formative Years, Primordial Audio Chronicle

Prior to Dorje Massaad, Hollingworth and Minal were members of Nu Metal band ChasinJade[1][2] however when the band broke up after many years.[1] After a chance meeting between Chapman and Massaad in a bar, Chapman asked Massaad to join the band he was forming. Subsequently Hollingworth and Minal were brought on board, and begun playing shows under the name The Rob Chapman Band.[1]

The band eventually began to focus less on Chapman's solo compositions, and a new name for the group was chosen, Dorje.[1] Their debut EP, Primordial Audio Chronicle: Volume One, was released on October 14, 2012,[3] and their first UK tour sold out.[1]

2012-2016

Dorje released their first single "White Dove" from the EP Catalyst on August 6, 2015, which was followed by their EP Catalyst on November 6, 2015.[4] This was supported by the Catalyst tour, in which the band toured the United Kingdom.

On October 14, 2016, Dorje released the Centred and One EP.

Dorje have been called progressive metal,[4][6][7][8] progressive rock,[4][6][7][8] alternative metal,[3][9] blues rock[1][4][9] and hard rock,[1][8] additionally they have been compared to the likes of Audioslave,[2] Tool,[9] Alter Bridge[9] and Pink Floyd.[7]
