Diocletian was a New Zealand extreme metal band from Auckland. Formed in 2004, the band's final lineup featured Atrociter (guitar, vocals), L. Muir (guitar, vocals, bass), C. Sinclair (drums) and J. Baldwin (guitars). The band's 2015 album, Gesundrian, was featured as number 15 on Pitchfork's list of "The Best Metal Albums of 2014".[1]
The band's style has been primarily labeled as war metal[1][2] and death metal with black metal influences.[2] Gesundrian's sound was described as "brutal, old school, blackened death metal".[2]
