Deveselu (Romanian pronunciation: [deveˈselu]) is a commune in Olt County, Romania. It is composed of two villages, Comanca and Deveselu.
Air base
The Romanian Air Force military airbase was closed in 2003, forcing approximately 200 personnel into early retirement; about 15 still live in the commune in the "airmen neighborhood".[2]
The air base near Deveselu was selected for the NATO missile defence system employing Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System and the inauguration ceremony was held in December 2015. The system will use the SM-3 Block IB interceptor.[3][4]
