Dennis J. Schmidt is an American philosopher and Professor and Chair of the Department of Philosophy at the Western Sydney University. He is known for his research on post-Kantian philosophy, hermeneutics and philosophy of art.[1][2][3][4] He received his PhD in philosophy from the Boston College in 1982.[5] Schmidt is the editor of "SUNY Series in Contemporary Continental Philosophy" and has reivsed Joan Stambaugh's translation of Being and Time.
